SPA PARTY: Be Creative Setting the Mood Throw a fabulous Spa Party, Jaqua Style. Here are some of Jennifer and Sara Jaqua's secret tips for a night to remember!
Our favorite parties are "Spa Nights" with our girlfriends. We've been giving them for over twenty years; they provided the inspiration for our very first product. We know a thing or two about what it takes to have a memorable event!
To make the event indulgent, chic, relaxing and fun, use our checklist:
Inviting Invites
Whenever we want to get our friends really excited about an event, we send out adorable invitations. Our favorites are sassy invitations by Hello Lucky (
www.hellolucky.com) and the beautiful ?Dahlia? design found at Sugar Paper (
www.sugarpaper.com). When we're in New York, we love to pick up invites at Kate's Paperie (
www.katespaperie.com). We prefer to hand-write each invitation for a personal touch, and at the bottom of the invitation we always write: ?p.s., bring a comfy robe, your slippers and your most fabulous colored nail polish to share!?
Light the Way
Before our guests arrive, we turn our house into an inviting spa by lighting our favorite candles (CZ Guest Slatkin found at Bigelow's or
www.bigelowchemist.com). Luminarias light a glowing pathway to our front door, adding a touch of celebration and magic. We make them ourselves, with colored paper bags (at
www.iparty.com) weighted down with sand and votive candles.
Beauty Basics Our spa products go a long way towards making everyone feel beautiful and relaxed. Our absolute must-haves at every event include our famous Peach Parfait Exfoliating Body Polish (for hand and foot scrubs and soaks), and our favorite body butter of the moment.
In order to create flow, we ask people to pair up. That way they can give and receive hand and foot massages! We have three separate ?stations? for hand, foot and facial treatments, and post these basic instructions near each:
Facials:
- Cleanse - we prefer gel-based cleansers
- Exfoliate - we love gentle scrubs
- Herbal Steam (*Preferably with herbs. We use a combo of dried lavender, calendula and rose in a large bowl of steaming water and place a towel over our heads for several minutes of fragrant steam)
- Apply face masque - we love our Pumpkin Papaya Puree Face Masque
- Tone
- Moisturize
Hands and Feet:
- Remove nail polish and trim/file nails before you soak.
- Soak and exfoliate - we use our Peach Parfait or Pina Colada
- Dry and massage with lotion - for intense hydration we prefer our rich body butters
Sweet Beat To really get our guests in the spa mood, an uplifting CD is key. Our current favorites include: Norah Jones, old Motown and Brazilian jazz. (

Warm and Fluffy
Towels pulled fresh from the drier are an absolute necessity for creating a cozy spa feeling. Our towels are ?Rhapsody? 100% Egyptian cotton, which feel wonderfully soft and fluffy. Available at
www.elegantlinenspc.com. Add a little lavender or rose water spritz to them before you throw them into the drier, for a relaxing aromatherapy effect.
Treats to Remember No gathering with girlfriends is complete without chocolate, and current favorite is the delectable handmade chocolate from Woodhouse (discovered on a dreamy trip to Napa and available at
www.woodhousechocolate.com). Our guests always appreciate our amazing selection of teas from Harney and Sons, which are easy to find at
www.harney.com. Our favorites: Dragon Pearl Jasmine, Mutan White and Paris Blend, a fruity black tea with a hint of lemony Bergamot.
Hugs & Kisses We never let our friends leave empty-handed after a night of pampering. A small parting gift when we say our goodbyes lets them know that their presence is the real reason our party was so divine. We like to give Jaqua gift bags with a Hydrating Shower Syrup, a Shea or Cocoa Sinfully Rich Body Butter, and our Lip Whip gloss. We mix and match so no bag is the same.
