Get the Look: Julianne Hough as the Classic Hitchcock Blonde
From burning up the ballroom on Dancing With the Stars to head-banging her way through Rock of Ages, Julianne Hough is quickly becoming one of Tinseltown’s most popular (and multitalented) celebrities. Her versatility extends into the fashion and beauty world, too, as she took a turn toward the dramatic at the 26th Anniversary Carousel of Hope Ball. Her normally freshly scrubbed look was replaced with dramatic scarlet lips, a deep side part and pink eye shadow that made her blue eyes sparkle even more. “She’s the all-American girl who became the classic old-Hollywood Hitchcock blonde,” says makeup artist Rhona Samuels. She tells us how to get her glamorous look.
Step 1: Prep skin with your favorite moisturizer for a dewy finish.
Step 2: Apply a pea-sized amount of foundation, like Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, using a brush for a seamless finish and luminous sheer glow.
Step 3: Add a wash of color onto the apples of your cheeks by blending a rosy cream blush upward. Try: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Pink Plum.
Step 4: Dust a small amount of translucent powder, like L’Oréal Translucide Naturally Luminous Loose Powder in Translucent, over the cream blush to create a softer, more subtle look.
Step 5: Define your brows by shaping and filling in any sparse areas with a brow kit, like Smashbox Brow Tech To Go.
Step 6: Using your finger, apply a small amount of pink shadow, like Lancôme Color Design Infinité 24H Crease-Free Luminous Eye Shadow in Perpetual Pink, to your entire eyelids. Add a touch of light-reflecting concealer under your brows for an instant lift. Try: YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch.
Step 7: Define your top lashes with a black liquid liner, like Benefit Magic Ink Jet-Black Liquid Eyeliner. Then brush on two coats of mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Try: MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash.
Step 8: Using a lip brush for precision, apply Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in 400 to the outline of your lips. Then blend the lipstick out from your inner lips to the lip line.
