Get the Look: Kelly Osbourne’s Violet Cat Eye
At the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, E! correspondent Kelly Osbourne put her own spin on the matching trend. She was more the vamp than a fairy in a lavender gown, violet locks, lilac glittery cat eye and unexpected blood-red lip. Julianne Kaye, the celebrity makeup artist behind the bold look, shares the steps to creating it on your own (minus the quarter-of-a-million-dollar manicure!).
Step 1: Create flawless skin by applying a creamy, moisturizing foundation that provides silky, luminous coverage. Try: Armani Designer Shaping Cream Foundation SPF 20.
Step 2: Knock out any shiny areas and create a matte finish by dusting on a veil of fine powder, like Lancôme Translucence Mattifying Silky Pressed Powder.
Step 3: Keep your eyes free of shadow. Using a black liner, like Girlactik Black Star Base, line your top and bottom lashes. Make sure to flick the liner up at the outer corners of your eyes to create a dramatic cat eye.
Step 4: While the liner is still wet, add a little bit of sparkle by layering lavender microglitter on top. Try: Girlactik Sparkle Color in Lavender. Be sure to let a little of the black liner peek through at the bottom for more pop.
Step 5: Groom your brows by brushing them up. Lightly fill them in using a matching brow pencil. Try: Maybelline Eye Studio Master Shape Brow Pencil. Apply with a gentle touch by using small flicks so that your brows appear more natural.
Step 6: Skip black mascara. Instead apply a thick coat of dark burgundy mascara only to your top lashes. This shade really makes the eyes pop, especially if you have any green in them. Try: YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara in 5 Burgundy.
Step 7: Contour the cheeks with a sheer, warm coral blush, like Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral. Don’t put the color directly on the apples of your cheeks, but rather to the sides to accentuate your cheekbones and create subtle drama.
Step 8: Apply a deep crimson lipstick, like MAC Lipstick in Media, onto your lips directly from the tube. Then perfect the lip line with a lip brush.
