Mama Mio Behind the Brand

Mama Mio was founded by three beauty experts. Between us we have 40 years experience in the beauty industry and, more importantly, 62 years experience as mothers! With seven children, we know motherhood takes a big toll on your skin. Whether your baby is in your tummy or in college, we have created Mama Mio skincare to help you feel good in your skin.

How Mama Mio started
One of the perks of working in the beauty industry together over the last 15 years is that we have access to the very best biochemists, aromatherapists and skincare experts in the business. So when Sian first fell pregnant with Charlie, we did some serious research into how to keep our tummies free from stretch marks. We concluded that the answer to protecting overstretched skin is in the topical application of Omega 3, 6 and 9. This became the basis of our Tummy Rub Oil. It smelt glorious, felt amazing and we all rub, rub, rubbed it in throughout our seven pregnancies. All of the other Mama Mio skincare products followed as we encountered each stage in pregnancy and, even more importantly, needed great products to help get our body back afterwards! Three years ago, the encouragement of all our supermama friends and fans helped us to finally launch Mama Mio - the one and only skincare range totally focused on supermamas.

Since then, it has been a crazy and really fantastic ride; setting up Mama Mio, raising the finance, building the team how we wanted to, making sure we were able to stick to our principles of hiring mums (the most underused and overqualified workforce on the planet!), maintaining a stringent safety and ingredient policy, challenging ourselves to grow and develop and most importantly to make work fun. Because why shouldn't work be fun - at least most of the time! (life is short.)

Three years of relentlessly hard work later, Mama Mio is in over 700 stores in 8 countries, 100 of the most toe-tingling spas and, best of all, we get glorious feedback from Supermamas all around the globe.

When we look back over the last three years since starting Mama MIo, it seems amazing that we have got here so fast. And when we consider all the challenges we have overcome, we are glad we couldn't have forseen them or we may have never come out from under the duvet! We are deeply proud of Mama Mio; it really is the culmination of all of our experience over the years. It is a messy business trying to find the balance between working, being a mum, a wife, a super-friend, a super-daughter, keeping a super-home, being a super-taxi driver and all that stuff we mamas have to undertake on a daily basis - it's tough being a supermama, isn't it?

We just wanted to say that ALL supermamas worry about getting the balance in their lives right - you are not alone. And absolutely NO-ONE we have ever met on our travels wants the same kind of balance or gets it right all of the time. But on those rare days that it actually happens, congratulate yourself and hang on to the feeling!

Our Philosophy
Our world is entirely focused on mamas. We live in an fantastic time for women and we have so much more opportunity than any previous generation. But of course, with those opportunities there are new pressures. As a mama, we wear a million hats each day and we seem to master them all but one? the feel gorgeous hat.. We still feel that it is an indulgence, a luxury, to actually spend a little time looking after ourselves; looking after the amazing bodies we have been given - that have achieved so much. We want you to celebrate your body, to praise it and to nurture it. Because if you don't look after yourself, you cannot look after everyone else.

The way we see it, looking your best is so much about feeling your best. Our favourite word at Mama MIo is CONFIDENCE. True beauty is all about confidence. Not in a showy, cocky way; in a very feminine, gentle, 'sun shining out of you and warming all around you' way. It is not about traditional magazine cover beauty. It is about you appreciating yourself, your body and what it has achieved so far. You are amazing!

Thankfully, true confidence comes with age and wisdom. We are real women who lead busy lives and do amazing things. What we want is to feel confident in our achievements and feel our very best in our supermama skin. Now that is beautiful!
