Paula Dorf Behind the Brand

Paula Dorf, the mastermind behind Paula Dorf Cosmetics, brilliantly created a line of professional makeup brushes while working as the key makeup artist for music powerhouses Kiss, Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, and Pat Benatar. Once on set, Paula realized the heavy foundation was no match for the heavier lights, and walked over to a local art supply store, cut up high quality paint brushes and began to apply foundation to skin with a maestro's hand, began the widely copied technique of using brushes to apply foundation.
This early foray as a leader of cutting edge foundation application allowed Paula to create her own line of custom brushes that quickly were snatched up by other makeup artists, hoping to re-create flawless coverage for their clients.
While working on this instrumental brush collection, Paula created a basic color line with eye shadows, cream and powder blushes and vibrant lip colors, that were easy to use and complimentary to a variety of skin tones. With the success of the collection, it was quite easy for luxury retail leaders Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel New York to buy Paula Dorf Cosmetics, allowing their savvy customers to "become their own makeup artists."
Today, Paula has lead the beauty industry by fashioning a mainstay of easy to apply makeup colors, products and "trick tools" embraced by celebrities, fashionistas, beauty authorities and most importantly, everyday makeup lovers who flock to Paula Dorf Cosmetics nationwide to pick up the latest must have item.
Seen in the latest issues of In Style, Allure, Town & Country, Vogue and Elle and on celebrities including Jessica Simpson, Sandra Bullock, Debra Messing, Renee Zellweger, Lisa Kudrow, Mandy Moore and Courtney Cox - Arquette, Paula's products are constantly embraced as industry favorites.
Paula Dorf was born in the Bronx, New York and currently lives in Manhattan with her husband Sandy Dekovnick, the company's CEO. When taking breaks from mixing up colors and consistencies for her collection, Paula likes to watch old movies, attend concerts and visit museums in her beloved city of New York.
