She Nailed It: The Sparkling Manicure
This nail look first showed up on the spring 2011 Badgley Mischka ready-to-wear runway, and it’s now becoming a new classic. It’s a perfect way to update a nude polish, adding a glittery twist that works just as well at the office or at a black-tie affair. Here’s how to create this sparkling manicure.
What you need:
- Base coat. Try: Zoya Anchor Base Coat.
- Nude nail polish. Try: Essie Nail Color in Brooch the Subject.
- Top coat with varying sizes of pastel glitter. Try: Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer in Glitter in the Air.
- Top coat. Try: Maybelline Express Finish Base & Top Coat.
How to do it:
Step 1: Apply the base coat.
Step 2: Apply two coats of the nude nail polish.
Step 3: Apply two layers of the top coat with varying sizes of pastel glitter. Tip: In order to get the maximum amount of glitter on your brush, screw the lid back on the polish bottle after painting each nail. Flip the bottle upside down and back upright before moving on to your next nail. You can also scoop up extra glitter flecks from around the inner edge of the bottle and place them on your nails as desired.
Step 4: Allow your nails to dry for about two minutes (this will prevent the glitter from slipping around). Then finish the look with a quick-dry top coat.
