Spring Beauty: Bold Matte Lip Tutorial
Look-at-me lips were splashed all over the Fall 2013 runways at New York Fashion Week. From powerful matte plum pouts as seen at Cynthia Rowley to lusterless rogue lips at Reem Acra, it is clear that the kiss du jour for fall is in fact a wearable beauty trend for Spring 2013. In light of this multi-seasonally appropriate lip, we are showing you how to achieve this low-gloss look in just 5 simple steps in today’s tutorial…
What You Will Need
- Lip conditioner
- Your favorite bold lipstick
- Nude lip liner
- Translucent powder & brush
Prep Tip: If your lips are particularly dry, give our soft lip suggestions a try.
- Condition lips with lip balm.v
- Line lips with a non-feathering lip liner.
- Apply lip color.
- Press a tissue onto lips and lightly brush translucent powder over the tissue. The tiny particles will seep through the tissue and set the color with a matte finish.
- Remove tissue and voila!
We recreated the same bold lip as seen backstage at Diane Von Furstenberg. It’s a fresh, bight finish that’s wearable for day or night, work or play, spring or fall. The best part? Since the color is set with powder, it is long lasting and it won’t tack down to your wineglass when you go to take a sip.
Are you going to give this matte lip trick a try? What color are you going to use?
