Colorful Cat Eye Look
One dramatic trend in eye makeup is the cat eye look, featuring a bright shadow like turquoise and plum. However, the key to pulling off this look is to make it dramatic without being overdone.
- Begin by apply white eyeshadow over your lid as a base.
- Apply a turquoise, plum or other bright shadow over the entire lid.
- For a bit more drama, top the eyeshadow with a shimmery or glitter powder.
- Line your eyes from the middle of the eye outward using a black liquid eyeliner. Then don't stop at the edge of your eye. Follow the curve of your eye and extend line past the corner, upward and outward.
- Curl your eyelashes and apply a coat of black, lengthening mascara.
- Allow it to dry for a minute or two, then curl your lashes again and apply another coat. This will really make your eyes stand out.
With all the attention on your eyes, be sure to balance the look with simple cheeks and lips.
- Use a pink or peach blusher. Smile big and, using a brush, apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks. Then using your fingertips, blend the blush up and out toward your hairline.
- Add a pale pink lipstick and top it with gloss.

Makeup Trends - Hollywood Glamour Look
One of the most popular current makeup trends is the Hollywood glamour look of false eyelashes with deep red lipstick. However, many women avoid fake lashes because they think they are very difficult to apply.
But by following these basic steps for applying false lashes, you can achieve an easy, yet glamorous look:
- Buy a set of false eyelashes from Makeup.com. These lashes come with the adhesive you need to apply them.
- Place a small line of the glue adhesive onto your hand and let it set for 30 seconds or so to get tacky.
- Carefully place a strip of lashes into the glue, being sure to get glue all along to the edge.
- Remove the strip from the glue with your fingers or tweezers.
- Press the strip onto your eye very close to your natural lash-line.
- Push down on the edges to make sure it's firmly attached. Repeat with your other eye.
- Use a cotton swab and eye makeup remover to clean off any residual glue.
- Sweep white eyeshadow or primer over your eye lid from the lash line to your browbone.
- Apply a medium brown eyeshadow into the crease to create definition.
- Use your fingertip and blend the shadow toward your brow.
- Choose a dark brown or black eyeliner. Liquid liner and pencil are both appropriate. Just pick whichever type of liner you are most comfortable with.
- Draw a line along your top lashes from the inner corner toward the outer edge.
- Extend the line slightly further out than the edge your eye. Extend it up and out by 1/4 inch or so.
- Apply one coat of black mascara to mesh your natural lashes with the fakes.
- Line your lips with red liner and apply a blue-red lipstick. Avoid brick or orange-reds, which can make your skin and teeth look yellow.
- Use a light rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks to complete the glamorous look.

Winter Makeup Trends and Hair Trends
In the winter, you can go darker with your hair and makeup.
If you color your hair, consider going a shade or two darker as the weather gets cooler. You can also get a little more dramatic - strawberry blondes can go with an auburn shade, light ash browns can become rich chestnut shades and dark browns can try chocolate or ebony.
When you change your hair color in the winter, you will need to adjust your makeup to match.
Find a foundation shade that closely matches your skin tone. Cream and liquid foundations are more popular in the winter than in the warmer months.
- Use deep browns, forest greens and richer shades of eyeshadow.
- Line your eyes with a thicker, darker liner than you use in the summer.
- Apply two coats of thickening mascara for a more dramatic eye.
- Lipstick should also be deeper in the winter. Deep burgundies, dark reds and rich browns are good lip color choices.
