Which Fall Fashion Campaign Has the Best Makeup?

Every July, I wait with bated breath for the blockbusters to arrive. And no, I'm not talking about the opening of the newest Twilight movie. I'm talking about that tantalizing moment when I get my first glimpse of the fall fashion campaigns, which break in the August magazines. When I was a teenager, I used to devour these issues the moment I got my hands on them, tearing out my favorite fashion ads and plastering them all over my bedroom walls the way most of my friends surrounded their beds with posters of Jason Priestly and Leonardo DiCaprio (hey, it was the mid-'90s). Back then, it was the heyday of the supermodels, and I still remember some of the ads I had up in my room: Claudia Schiffer in the now-iconic Guess ads, Helena Christensen and Christy Turlington in jewel-encrusted corsets and painted-on eyebrows in the Versace ads, and Linda Evangelista kissing a chimpanzee in a Barneys New York ad photographed by Steven Meisel. These photos were more than just promotional material to me—they were coolest women on the planet bringing a majestic fantasy to life. And that's still what these campaigns represent today, which is precisely why my enthusiasm for them hasn't waned. The fall 2010 ads range from a retro, subdued sexuality to an in-your-face style raciness. There's also a lot of gorgeous makeup going on. Trends I'm loving: The glistening skin of Louis Vuitton's zaftig, Mad Men-esque women (shown above), the pastel shadow and superflushed cheeks worn by the girlish Miu Miu models, and the provocative red and fuchsia lips appearing in too many ads to list. Click below to view a slideshow of my favorite fall ads along with a list of the models appearing in each one. Which campaign do you think has the best makeup this fall?
