creating cheekbones with makeup

We all have that one beauty product that we always make time for. For some it’s lipstick, for others it’s concealer, and many won’t leave the house without a swipe off mascara. Well we’d never come between a girl and her mascara wand, but if you’re skipping your cheeks you’re missing a major beauty opportunity. Even if you weren’t blessed with impossibly high cheekbones, creating them is easier and faster than you might think. Got an extra minute after that lipstick application? Then you’ve got time for instant cheekbones!

20 seconds: Using a matte bronzer that’s slightly darker than your skin, start in the hollows of your cheeks and sweep the color up towards your temples. Try Yves Saint Laurent Terre Saharienne Powder or Too Faced Matte Bronzer. Freelance Makeup Artist Elyse Reneau gave us this tip:  The goal is to create a shadow (not a line!) so make sure to work your brush until the bronzer is completely blended (you shouldn't have to pick up more bronzer). 20 seconds: Dust a rosy-hued blush across the apples of the cheeks like Lancôme Blush Subtil in Pink Lamour or Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Adored. 20 seconds: And these last 20 seconds are when it’s all going to come together. LA-based makeup artist Elle Leary recommends making your best “fish face” and highlighting right at the top of your cheekbones with an illuminizer like It Cosmetics Hello Lights or L’Oréal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer. “To find that spot do the fish face and apply on top of the hollow sections.” And of course, don’t forget to blend!
