The 4-Strand Braid

They say all bad things come in threes. While we’re not exactly the suspicious types, this four-strand braid does certainly provide us with a fun new spin on an old classic. It’s easy to do on your own, and it even looks fun with a bit of hair chalk at the ends. With our simple guide, you’ll have this look down in no time flat.

4 strand braid

Divide your hair into four sections to one side of your neck. The best way to explain this braid is to name each strand 1, 2, 3 and 4, with 1 being the strand closest to your neck, 2 being the second closest, 3 being the third, and 4 being the farthest away.
1. Cross strand 1 over strand 2 and under strand 3.
2. Strand 1 should now be the third strand from your neck, and strand 3 should now be the second strand from your neck. Take strand 4 and cross under strand 1 and over strand 3.
3. You’ve now completed one cycle of the braid. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you’ve reached the end of your braid.
Voilá! Now that wasn’t so hard, was it? Now go out and wow your friends with your jaw-dropping braiding skills.
