Soiree-Worthy Side Bun
  1. Brush dry shampoo like Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo through second or third day hair.
  2. Emulsify a small amount of pomade like Cibu Origumi Creative Paste in between palms and smooth all over, under, and around hair for pliability.
  3. Use a soft bristle brush to smooth hair into a side ponytail.
  4. If hair is short, slip three pieces of extensions around base of ponytail.
  5. Twist entire ponytail into a low bun, securing with bobby pins.
  6. Clip a decorative pin, flower or ribbon at base of side bun.
  7. Spray a bit of hairspray on a fine tooth comb or clean toothbrush to smooth down any flyaways or baby hairs.
BoHo-Ho Holiday Waves
  1. Separate dry hair into four sections down the middle and across the back of the head.
  2. Pin up the hair above the occipital bone, and begin taking small sections of hair at the nape.
  3. Spray each section with a heat protecting spray like Bumble and Bumble Does It All Styling Spray.
  4. Hold a 1" curling iron face down and wrap each section of hair around the outside of the barrel, leaving about 1.5 inches un-looped at the end (hold the end to keep the hair taught).
  5. Continue to curl the sections on the top half of your head
  6. To complete the look (and enhance your waves), dip your fingers into a cream wax like Redken Tousle Whip and do finger-twists around each wave.
Up & Down
  1. Work a medium hold gel like Matrix Logics Geometric Medium Hold Styling Gel through damp hair.
  2. Use a blowdryer to smooth out bangs straight and to the side.
  3. Part 1” sections all over head (excluding bangs), twist into loose pincurls and clip at base of head.
  4. Spray clipped hair with light hold working hairspray like Pho Finish Workable Finishing Spray.
  5. Let clipped hair sit until dry, or hit with a diffuser if you're tight on time.
  6. Unclip pin curls, and refine with a curling iron.
  7. Section off top portion of hair, smooth with a soft bristle brush, twist, bump up, and secure with bobby pins.
Twisted Sister
  1. Work a few drops of argan oil like Moroccan Oil through damp hair, then comb through a medium-hold gel.
  2. Use a blowdryer to smooth out bangs straight and to the side.
  3. Diffuse rest of hair until 95 percent dry on high heat, low speed.
  4. When hair is almost dry, use diffused texture to create an updo comprised of multiple 1” pinned sections: Take sections, twist, and pin throughout. It's an imperfect effect, so don't worry about getting perfect sections. For shorter pieces, use a tiny bit of pomade for more hold.
  5. To refine look, put on a black elastic head band, or tie a holiday ribbon around your head, securing at base of neck. Leave bangs out.
5-Minute Updo
  1. Spray dry shampoo all over hair and brush through.
  2. Use pointed end of a rat tail comb to part hair in three sections at forehead: side left, middle, and side right.
  3. Back-comb each section using a fine-tooth comb.
  4. Brush over to smooth, twist at base, and secure with bobby pins.
  5. Repeat steps 1 and 2 over middle and bottom portions of head, for a total of nine bumps.
  6. Spray entire head with a firm hold hairspray like Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hairspray.
  7. Repurpose a pretty holiday ribbon by tying it at the base of your neck.
