Tired eyes and dark circles are not our favorite look. After losing sleep, we’ll do anything to fake the appearance of bright and awake eyes. Luckily, with the right products and tricks in your arsenal, it’s pretty easy to do. Here, Lancôme beauty advisor Olivia Thompson shares her best-kept secrets for making eyes look brighter with makeup.

TIP 1: Apply Some Blue Mascara

Get your hands on a blue mascara like the Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara in Royal Blue. Blue not only complements every eye color, but it will also help make the whites of your eyes look brighter.

TIP 2: Highlight Your Inner Corners

“Using a light shimmer shade in the inner corner of your eye always brightens you up,” says Thompson. Try the NYX Professional Makeup Diamonds & Ice, Please Shadow Jelly, which will give your eyes a high-impact shimmer that will last all day long.

TIP 3: Use a Flesh-Toned Eyeliner on Your Waterline

“I like using a flesh-toned eyeliner right on the lower waterline, and I smudge a medium-tone shade right underneath that,” Thompson says.

TIP 4: Curl Your Lashes

Give your lashes some life and open up your eyes with an eyelash curler. We recommend the iconic Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler to achieve the perfect, long-lasting curl. After that, apply a lash-defining mascara, like the L’Oréal Paris Bambi Eye Mascara.

TIP 5: Shape and Fill in Your Brows

A defined brow can help frame and open your eyes. The IT Cosmetics Brow Power Filler will help give you a natural yet sculpted finish.

TIP 6: Give Yourself a Cat Eye

A cat eye helps open your eyes and makes you look more awake. Even if you don't want to do a dramatic wing, you can still throw in a small outward flick to help widen your eyes. The L'Oréal Paris Makeup Le Liner Signature Mechanical Eyeliner glides on easily for a foolproof application.

TIP 7: Apply Under-Eye Concealer in an Upside-Down Triangle Shape

Instead of applying a concealer in a curved shape just under your eye, make an inverted triangle or V-shape, and blend it outward. This helps create a lifted appearance and makes your eyes look super awake. Choose a brightening formula like the YSL Beauty Touché Éclat All-Over Brightening Concealer Pen.
