Fear of missing out, or FOMO, is defined by Dictionary.com as “a feeling of anxiety or insecurity over the possibility of missing out on something as an event or opportunity.” As makeup lovers existing in our current society, it’s pretty easy to say we all experience some level of this, especially if you follow a bunch of beauty influencers on social media. Over the past year, our Instagram feeds have been full of our favorite vloggers, bloggers and ‘grammers living it up on special press trips with major beauty brands. That’s not to say that they don’t spend hours and hours creating content for the world — we just get to see the stuff that’s worth being jealous over.

So to give you  insight into what actually goes on during those fancy press trips, we did some research (aka, lots of creepin’ on some of our fave influencers) to uncover the coolest parts that make us wish we were full-time beauty vloggers. Ahead, discover deets from five crazy-cool influencer beauty trips that happened this year and prepare to feel all sorts of jealous.

Camp Maybelline — June 2018
Maybelline New York hosted a group of 21 beauty influencers in Montauk from June 21-25, 2018 for an exclusive look at the brand’s latest launches. Hero Beach Club, a tranquil beachside retreat, was transformed into Camp Maybelline, where influencers — in short — lived their best lives. There was a Shine Compulsion-themed photoshoot, makeup classes with celebrity makeup artist Grace Lee, a Lemonade Craze Beauty Bar for manicures, hair styling and makeup, plus a crazy-yummy candy bar (and that’s just a handful of activities). For more behind-the-scenes, check out this video from Maybelline.

Armani Beauty Takes the Hamptons — July 2018
Armani Beauty landed in Montauk too — in helicopters to be exact. Beauty influencers got to learn makeup techniques from renowned makeup artist Linda Cantello, specifically in the art of mixing foundations for the perfect shade-match or using makeup products in nontraditional ways. Influencers stayed at the luxurious Gurney's Montauk Resort (the stuff of beachy Instagram dreams), took morning workout classes and ate pasta straight out of a foodie’s Instagram. To learn even more, check out Pam Hetlinger’s firsthand account of the trip.

IT Cosmetics Hits the Beach in Cali — July
To add to the hype surrounding the new IT Cosmetics CC+ Oil-Free Matte, the brand held an event at the Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California. 17 influencers attended with a +1 for beachy activities inspired by the formula ingredients: i.e. tea tree massages, colloidal clay pedicures and activated charcoal-infused shampoo treatments with blowouts. When influencers weren’t getting beauty treatments, they were boogie boarding, doing beachside yoga, relaxing under “full coverage” cabanas, or casually getting their portrait done by a charcoal artist.

Lancôme Lifeproof Collection x Santa Barbara — August 2018
Major beauty influencers took to Lancôme via private jets to test out the Lancôme Lifeproof Collection at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara — casual. “We were greeted by beautiful roses, some perfume, a little candle and this really pretty robe with the Lancome flower…” @iluvsarahii tells her followers in an Instagram story. “Then a Lancome pillow and all this makeup: highlighters, bronze glow,  lash curlers, skincare, brushes — just a whole bunch of makeup and skincare and I’m going to be using all of this tonight.” Influencers posted photos of lavish meals, fire makeup looks and lots and lots of product.

Urban Decay Takes the Big Apple — September 2018
As you might recall from social media, 10 major beauty influencers took a photo in front of a 10-foot cherry display in South Street Seaport, NYC back in September. The reason for this social media blast was that officially reveal the brand’s Naked Cherry Collection and offer a giveaway to their followers. Influencers were transported around the city in a cherry-themed bus and they experienced personalized vanity stations to get their makeup done, a piercing with cherry earrings, a cherry balloon rooftop moment and cherry-infused bites and drinks.
