InStyle's July issue features an inside peek at the Lancôme ad campaign starring their new global ambassador extraordinaire, Julia Roberts (check out a page from the story above). In the issue, Julia talks about how it feels to become a beauty model at 42, her favorite makeup look (hint: It involves eyeliner), and the one beauty trend she'll never try.
The story also features interviews with Julia's longtime glam squad, makeup artist Genevieve Herr and hairstylist Serge Normant. The two reveal how they created her look for the ads, a look I like to call hyperreal—as in, hair and makeup that's natural yet flawless. I'm loving that makeup companies are starting to show more relatable ads. Some are so artistic and over the top that while they make for beautiful images, I have a hard time imaging how I'd wear the colors. Julia's ads with her softly-lined eyes, pale rosy lips, and sideswept hair make me want to trade in my bright summer gloss and blush for quieter, demure shades, just so I can look as pure and healthy as she does all wrapped up in her cozy cable-knit sweater.
While we're on the topic of all things Julia, have you seen the trailer for her new movie Eat, Pray, Love? I admit, I got a little verklempt during it—the movie looks so passionate, and the images of the countries her character travels to are breathtaking. I only hope that when it comes out in August, there isn't a massive spike in young women quitting their jobs so they can run around the world for a year! But hey, at least it's Friday and we all have the weekend off, right? And with that in mind, here's the trailer. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
