Pretend to hate on ‘em all you want, but you can’t deny there’s a part of you that wants to recreate a viral eyebrow trend, even if it’s done in the privacy of your bedroom — with no evidence that could ever be used against you. Last week, in viral brow trends, we discovered garden brows: a floral brow that’s perfect for festival goers that can be personalized for your style — be it subtle or extreme. This week, though, bow brows are the latest trend going viral on Instagram and to be honest, we’re surprised it took this long.

We first heard about the trend from our friends at POPSUGAR, when they discovered German makeup enthusiast Lisette Scheffler’s Instagram page, featuring bold cut creases, unique eyeshadow color combos, and, of course, the acclaimed bow brow look. "Since brow trends became very popular the last weeks, I thought about inventing my own brow trend. I hope you guys like it,” Scheffler wrote in her Instagram caption. To get a similar look at home, use your favorite brow pencil, like Maybelline Total Temptation Brow Definer to outline a bow shape above your brows using short strokes to ensure that the brow pencil resembles your actual brows. Finish by snapping a photo to prove it actually happened.

And if bow brows aren’t for you or your secret brow experiment sessions, perhaps heartbeat brows are — though they’re certainly not for the faint of heart. First created by Zakia Serroukh Wahbi, a Kuwait-based makeup artist, the look resembles an alarming EKG activity monitor, with winged eyeliner to match. This look requires more patience than bow brows, since you’ll also need to conceal a portion of your brow to make a fluctuating heart rate come to life.

Naturally, these looks garner mixed responses. Positive comments include those that praise the creativity and artistry behind the looks, like, “girl I love this! So unique and creative!! Keep up the amazing looks,” or, “Yass such a cool look!!” Negative comments are from those who take the look super literally, assuming that the look is created to be worn on any normal day (all the power to ya if you do). But in reality, these looks are meant to be fun works of art that celebrate makeup as a creative outlet. And as crazy as they get at times, we’re here for each and every one.
