Romona Keveza debuted her Spring 2014 bridal and couture collections at Bridal Fashion Week in New York City this Monday, and we were thrilled to be there to capture the glamour. Though it was hard to steal our attention away from the stunning collection, naturally we were all about the beauty…

The look was one of Retro Romance, complete with graphic black liner, bold matte lips, and voluminous ponytails. We were backstage before the show, to get an exclusive rundown of how to create the complete look. The Makeup

In between strokes, Makeup Artist Jason Araujo gave us the skinny on this gorgeous look...

Skin “Skin is always going to be the most important thing that people see first, and should see first.” For a beautiful, soft-focus texture that’s creamy without being shimmery, the team used illuminating beauty balm as a base. We like L’Oréal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream and Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm. Then they added a touch of color to the cheeks with Stila Lilium Convertible Color For Cheeks. Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush is another good option. Eyes For eyes, the team used Stila’s Kitten Eyeshadow, a beautiful champagne shimmer, paired with swept up, big brows and winged out, graphic black eyeliner. To get the sexy look, draw the liner past the lash line, and add false lashes. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner was the eyeliner of choice backstage. We also love to work with Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Eye Liner, and Shu Uemura False Eyelashes in Luxe Black. Lips To create the perfect bold matte lip, Araujo shared his secret: “Put a little foundation on the lips, and then lip liner. If you’re doing a red lip, make sure it’s soft, even if you have a really pointed lip, don’t follow it so you don’t look too Cruella.” Araujo used Stila Beso Stay All Day Lip on the models. And we’re currently all about L’Oreal Paris Infallible Le Rogue Lipstick in Ravishing Red and Yves Saint Laurent Rogue Pur Couture The Mats in Rogue Rock, as the perfect retro reds. The Hair

To compliment the retro makeup, the Kérastase team created “Adele-inspired, uptown chic ponytails,” Stephanie Belly, Kérastase Hairstylist told us. The key to this look is “a lot of volume at the top, which is why we used Kérastase Mousse Volumactive at her root." To recreate the look, tease your hair at the crown and smooth it over with a fine tooth comb. Secure your ponytail, and then apply Kérastase Fibre Architecte on the ponytail to protect and seal the hair before straightening. While this look would be perfect for any sophisticated wedding, it would also be great for any evening event. Would you wear this look? Let us know in the comments below! Photos: Jessica Hagy for
