If you’re a skincare junkie, clay masks are probably a key component in your beauty arsenal. After all, masking is instantly relaxing. Not All Clay Masks are Created Equal
The short answer is no. And because we don’t say anything without backing it up (we’re just thorough like that), we tracked down two dermatologists to settle the score. The good news first: Clay masks can be great for your skin! According to New York City dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, MD, clay masks have skin-calming and oil-absorbing properties that help clear your pores –– making them a great option for babes with most skin types. However, those with dry and sensitive skin may want to hold off (especially if the mask contains additives). Don’t Over Mask
Clay masks are a great secondary cleansing method, says Dr. Rachel Nazarian of Schweiger Dermatology Group, and are typically gentle enough to use once a week.
