5 Colored Eyeliner Tutorials That Will Immediately Make You Want to Never Wear Black Again

We are gathered here today to mourn your black eyeliner. Why, you ask? Because colored eyeliner is slowly but surely replacing our beloved OG versions, and we’re kind of obsessed with their takeover. They’re especially unique in their ability to contrast so well with complementary shadows or neutral to no bases at all, and that’s something to majorly be celebrated.

Ahead, find 5 of the best colored eyeliner tutorials that will make you want to join the color liner army and never turn back.

Red

Manny creates a gorgeous, simple but graphic red cat eye over a no-makeup lid in this tutorial. Using an angled brush, he swipes on the red extending it from the inner corner and winging it all the way out. He finishes the liner look with some falsies and lots of mascara.

Yellow

Desi starts her eye makeup off with a neutral base of nude to soft brown shadows. Next, she goes in with a highly pigmented yellow cream and an angled brush to create a classic cat eye. She then adds some dimension to the look with a thick black liquid liner, outlining the yellow shape, finally finishing off with the Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser to brighten her under eyes.

Blue

Naomi begins her look with a killer sunset shadow combination of burnt oranges and red. Next, she smokes out her lower lash line with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Blackout to really define her natural eye shape. Overtop, she glides a bright blue liner overtop her upper lash line and wings it out delicately and finishes off with some dramatic lashes.

Pink

After applying a neutral eyeshadow base, Gin lines her upper lash line with a bright pink cream shadow, creating a super out of the box cat eye. To contrast the pink shade even more, she blends out a yellow cream base onto her bottom lash line and outlines the bottom part of her wing with a black liner.

Purple

Giselle begins her eye makeup look with a gorgeous orange and yellow ombre shadow look, and then goes on to lining her upper lash line with the NYX Professional Makeup Studio Brights Liquid Eyeliner in Extreme Purple (the Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Violet works just as well!), winging it out. Finally, she finishes off the look with falsies and a glowing complexion.
