4 Game of Thrones Makeup Tutorials to Celebrate Our Return to Westeros

In celebration of returning to the world of Westeros and Essos, we only saw it fit to crossover two of our loves: Game of Thrones characters and makeup. Turns out, there are a lot of talented artists out there recreating every human and not-so-human of George R.R. Martin’s universe from the White Walkers to Jon Snow and, of course, Khaleesi. Ahead, we rounded up five of our favorite Game of Thrones makeup tutorials below.

Daenerys Targaryen

Carli Bybel seriously transforms into the House Targaryen Khaleesi in this makeup tutorial, all by bringing her fair features to life. She does this by concealing with a shade lighter than her normal go-to and applies a blonde pomade over her brows to match the Mother of Dragon’s platinum hair. To capture Dany’s doe-like eyes, she uses a white liner to define her waterline and the L’Oréal Telescopic Intense Lash Length Mascara to add volume to her lashes.

White Walker

Madeyewlook is a genius when it comes to bringing inhuman characters to life, and her White Walker tutorial is no different. She creates this entire look with white body and face paint, and goes in with a gray eyeshadow and small angled brush to create the ripply, hanging skin like texture of the Walker. To add dimension and structure, she goes in with a detailed brush and a black eyeshadow to really bring the look to life (or death, depending on how you want to look at it).

 Jon Snow

Makeup artist Kandee Johnson transforms YouTuber Hannah Harto into Jon Snow in this time-lapse tutorial that’s truly mesmerizing. After applying delicate wrinkle lines and grit all over Harto’s face, Johnson goes in with a faux beard and ice powder to really capture life in the Night’s Watch on the Wall.

Greyscale  + (Eventually) Stone Men

Loepsie recreates this disease of the Known World using prosthetic makeup clay and lots of creativity. After drawing in her scales, she sets her face with a banana powder and applies a red eyeshadow around the edges of her clay patches. Next, she applies a gradient of gray and black eyeshadow to accentuate each scale — making them as diseased-appearing as the Stone Men themselves.
