Swatch Off! Where Makeup.com’s three assistant beauty editors compare and contrast the latest and greatest palettes and collections in all the land. Up next is the brand new Urban Decay Backtalk Palette. This new Urban Decay muse comes with 2 blushes, 2 highlighters and 8 new eyeshadows in pink, purple and champagne hues. We swatched our favorites below — and here’s what we think.

As beauty editors, we receive an influx of amazing beauty products every week, but I have to say, this product in particular has me so excited, and I can’t wait to get my hands on my own palette. The two eyeshadow shades that I’m excited about for daytime wear are Bare, a light pinky-peach satin shade and Curve, a metallic rose shimmer. The two shades I love that veer slightly outside of my comfort zone (making them ideal for a bold eye look for a night on the town) are Shade, which is a deep fuschia satin and Attitude, a gorgeous metallic red copper. This palette deserves a place in my beauty vanity, as well as my travel bag.

I have to say: I’m really impressed with this palette, Urban Decay! I’ve been into the monochromatic reds and oranges lately (cue, Petite Heat), but I think those warm tones are getting a run for their money with the cool-toned Backtalk palette. My favorite shadows from this baby include Curve, a really pretty champagney-pink that I’d dust on my lids without a doubt, Attitude, a strong red-pink metallic, WTF, a sweet soft brown and 180, a deeper brown that would create a killer smoky crease. As for the highlighter/blush side of this palette, I’m totally loving Party Foul because of it’s airy, yet still super dimensional sheen.

As a self-professed palette hoarder, it takes a lot to impress me. Yet here I am, impressed. Let’s start with the packaging. The magnetic closure and detachable mirror make me feel super safe about toting this around (in the bottom of my bag, of course), and it has a weight to it that just feels luxe. The colors are also stunning — this palette really pays homage to the Vice Lipstick it’s inspired by and then expands on it. The shades that have my heart are Attitude, a coppery pink-red shade with a seductive shimmer, WTF, a warm terracotta matte brown and 180, a deep demi matte brown that will take any smoky eye to the next level.
