Rocking holiday makeup can be overwhelming — especially when it comes to festive metallics or a candy-cane cat eye. But every beauty girl knows that sometimes less is more, and there are ways to subtly rock holiday colors in your makeup by playing with the details. We called in our girl and NYC makeup-artist extraordinaire Emily Amick to get her take on the best subtle ways to rock holiday colors — including this totally dreamy green eyeliner. Read ahead to learn how to complete the look.
Step 1: Amick begins the look with a fluffy blending blush and a matte brown eye shadow. She sweeps the color into her crease as a transition shade and base.
Step 2: Next, she fills in her lids with the NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Eye Pencil in Pure Gold. “It’s great on all skin tones, and it’s really easy to glam it up or dress it down,” she says.
Step 3:Next, she highlights her brow bone and her inner corner with a light, airy champagne shadow to brighten up the look.
Step 4: Amick then grabs the Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Loaded and applies that to her upper lash line.
Step 5: Using L’Oréal Infallible Paint in Mint Detox, Amick lines her lower lash line and wings it out. “I don’t really believe in rules when it comes to color,” she says. “Jewel tones look great on everybody so pick your favorite one — play with it, have fun!”
Step 6:Finally, she finishes the look off with YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in I’m The Clash and a neutral lip color.
“So this season, if you want to go outside your comfort zone, this look might be the one for you,” she exclaims. Watch the full tutorial below!
