The awards-show season is officially in full swing, with the People's Choice Awards and 18th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards kicking it off earlier this week. Now we're preparing for celebrities wearing show-stopping gowns, beauty looks and enviable flawless complexions at Sunday's 70th Golden Globe Awards. L’Oréal Paris consulting dermatologist, Dr. Gervaise Gerstner, says many stars see her for laser treatments, microdermabrasion and glycolic peels prior to a big appearance to put their best face forward. She assures us, however, that those complicated procedures aren't necessary to look your most gorgeous for a formal event. Here she shares her favorite products that can help any woman show off a stunning luminous complexion worthy of a turn on the red carpet.
Step 1: For skin maintenance, Gerstner’s pick is the regimen offered up by L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Triple Power skin care collection, which is “the perfect regimen for women looking to address the following three areas: wrinkles, loss of facial volume and loss of firmness.” This line features Pro-Xylane and fragmented hyaluronic acid to help fight the signs of aging.
Step 2: BB creams have undoubtedly taken the world by storm, and L’Oréal Paris Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator is Gerstner’s choice for skin that is “dewy, glowing and youthful,” without looking cakey. This BB cream can be used in place of or before your regular foundation, and visibly improves uneven skin tone with a blend of vitamin B3, vitamin CG, procysteine, chestnut seed extract and bismuth oxychloride.
Step 3: To highlight skin, Gerstner recommends L’Oréal Paris Magic Lumi Highlighter, which is designed to “quickly brighten facial shadows and undereye circles, or just add a bit of shimmer for radiance.” Apply it on top of cheekbones and right underneath the brows for just a kiss of luminosity.
Step 4: When it comes to eyes, Gerstner admits that most celebrities use Latisse to lengthen lashes. But she also recommends L'Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara when you want the look of professionally applied faux lashes, with no extensions or lash serums required.
Step 5: To round out the look, Gerstner recommends L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Miracle Blur, a finishing cream that helps skin achieve that camera-ready, soft-focus finish. "This extremely lightweight cream instantly blurs away fine lines and wrinkles,” she says. As an alternate use, try stashing it in your purse to help refresh your look throughout the night, since it helps reduce oil, shine and the appearance of pores.
Step 6: Before you hit the road, don't forget to lock in your look with a sealing spray. Urban Decay All-Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is Gerstner's pick for ensuring your makeup will last up to a whopping 16 hours.
