Yearning for a super-soft kisser? It’s time to up the TLC: Tender Lip Care. Read on as leading makeup artists divulge how they score silky smooth lips, pronto—and what products are must-haves for a luscious pout. Toothbrush, then gloss “After you brush your teeth, run your toothbrush over your lips to exfoliate the dead skin,” instructs bridal makeup artist Leslie Moore, who likes to kick it up a notch by following lip exfoliation with L’Oréal Infallible Plumping Lip Gloss for a pillowy pout that stays moisturized for hours. Use eye cream…on your lips The concentrated hydration and anti-aging benefits of eye cream pack a punch for lips too, says celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow, who loves to multi-task with Dr. Hauschka Eye Contour Day Balm. Scrub it in Scrubs aren’t just for feet—they work great on lips, too. Celebrity makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor recommends Fresh Brown Sugar Lip Scrub as the ultimate treat. “Dab some of the granules on your lips in the morning,” says Sotomayor. “The sugar—a natural humectant—softens dead skin, while the granules gently scrub it away.” Opt for liquid color For color that doubles as a silkening treatment trade in lipstick for gloss. “Lancôme Crème de Brillance is loaded with a moisturizing, anti-aging ingredient called Pro-Xylane,” explains Sotomayor. “It goes on shiny like a lipgloss, but the color is rich like a lipstick.” Get your ZZZs with vitamin E At bedtime, split open a gel cap of Vitamin E (which you can find at the drugstore), and spread the oil on lips as an intense overnight treatment, says celebrity makeup artist Nicole Bryl. Have extra? Simply spread it around your cuticles to prevent and treat hang nails! Use a washcloth In a pinch a hot, damp washcloth rubbed gently over lips instantly lifts flakes and polishes lips.
