We found the perfect end-of-summer nail art design — and it’s gingham.

Summer is quickly slipping away, and there’s limited time to try a truly summery mani. We’re feeling the pressure to wear one last fresh nail look before transitioning into fall shades. The solution: this fun, gingham pattern by Essie. The best thing about the design is that it looks super intricate (Instagram gold!), but it’s actually really easy to DIY. Ahead, discover the simple steps to make the look your own.

What You’ll Need:

Prep: Apricot Oil (for your cuticles)

Base: First Base Base Coat

Essie Colors: Blanc and Naughty Nautical

Top Coat: Gel Setter

Instructions:

Start by prepping your nails with a base coat. Apply two coats of Blanc, and let nails dry fully.

Using Naughty Nautical, create two vertical lines at either side of the nail and be sure to leave space at the edges and at the center of the nail. Next, apply three evenly spaced horizontal lines. For best results, paint the top and bottom lines first, followed by the middle line. When the polish is dry, finish with top coat.
