People Are Curling Their Hair With Plastic Water Bottles — And We Have Mixed Feelings

Just like every other beauty lover on the planet, we’ll happily accept allof the makeup, skin care and hair-related hacks — especially if it means saving us time and trouble in our morning routines. We’ll take (and maybe even adopt) the weird, the viral and the celeb-founded hacks, so long as they really, actually work. If you follow all of the biggest names in beauty, then you might have come across a crazy-sounding hair hack that’s going viral right now and can add it to the list. Deemed “the water bottle hair curling hack,” by many, the trick claims to give your hair effortless curls — without spending hundreds of dollars (or even $1.50) on a brand new beauty tool.

So unsurprisingly, beauty gurus everywhere tested out the hack, including Huda Kattan, who managed to achieve pretty curls in (alledgedly) just one minute for her entire head of hair. She loves it so much, she calls it “the best curling hack EVER!"

So is it worth trying? That’s a damn good questions. If you’re looking for a fun beauty-related DIY activity, sure, give it a try (and be sure to document it via Instagram for the whole world to see). Though we don’t necessarily think this hack will replace your finest hot tools, we do think it’s a resourceful hack for tough times, like when you forget your curling iron at home and you’re in a hotel room just a single, sad looking blow-dryer — weirdly specific, but true.

Want to give it a try? Follow the below steps:

STEP 1: Chop off the top half part of an empty water bottle.

STEP 2: Using a box cutter or knife of some sort, create a small opening for your blow dryer nozzle.

STEP 3: Put a portion of your hair into the water bottle.

STEP 4: Put your blow dryer on a low setting and put the dryer through the nozzle to create a “whirlwind” effect on your hair. Hold for just a few seconds.

STEP 5: Take your hair out to reveal a curl.

STEP 6: Tell the world about your accomplishment via social media.

Since we’re not entirely sure how good it is for our hair to be exposed to the confines of a hot water bottle, we can’t say we’re total advocate for the hack. But what we are sure of is that desperate times call for desperate measures.
