Purple lipstick may not seem like too much of a stretch, especially when it’s a berry or deep plum hue. This bright lavender shade, however, is a bit unexpected in that it has a neon glow to it. But don’t be scared, this lipstick is totally wearable, especially when paired with a naughty-but-nice metallic eye. To achieve this look, follow steps one through four below:
Step 1: Apply a peach or nude metallic shadow to the entire lid, working it past the crease. Make sure you blend it out well so there are no visible lines of separation.
Step 2: Apply a soft pink metallic shade to just the bottom lid. Again, blend it well so the color transition is seamless, creating a subtle ombré effect.
Step 3: Take a metallic navy liner or shadow and line the upper and lower lash line with it. Smudge it slightly so there’s a bit of a smoky effect.
Step 4: Line your lips with an invisible or nude lip liner. Try overlining the lips a little to make your purple pout appear fuller. Fill in the lips with your Macaron lippie in Lavender and you’re ready to roll.
By now you’ve probably embraced the coral lip look. But this is just a gateway to orange lips, and since we’re here to broaden your beauty horizons, we want to introduce you to a shade that’s reminiscent of the Orange Creamsicles you lusted after as a kid. Here’s how to flaunt this tangerine dream:
Step 1: Prep the eyes with eye primer and dust on a shimmery brown shadow. Blend out the shadow past the crease.
Step 2: Apply a powder- or liquid-based highlighter to the inner corners of the eyes and buff it well so it blends seamlessly with the brown shadow.
Step 3: Line the lips using a nude lip liner and fill in the lips with your orange lip color using a lip brush. This will allow for more precise application.

At this point, blue lipstick may not be as foreign to you as, say, a year ago. We love that this year is all about venturing into uncharted territory with your makeup and blue lippies of all shades and textures are definitely being explored. If you’re a newcomer to the blue-lip party, this electric shade is a great way to dive right in. And, while this hue may not be the best pick for an office environment, it’s perfect for a fun night out or music festival. This is how you wear it right:
Step 1: Prep the lids with eye primer and apply a soft taupe shadow to the crease and contour area. Make sure the shade is being worked past the crease.
Step 2: Apply a vanilla-colored eye shadow to the lid and blend it outward.
Step 3: Line the lips with an invisible liner and fill in with your blue lipstick. After the color is filled in, take a lip brush and line the lips with your blue color to define your shape. You can also dip a cotton swab in makeup remover or water and clean up any color that gout outside the natural lip line. Because this color is so vibrant, it’s important the application is clean.
Step 4: For some added edge to your look, try throwing your hair into this über-cool mohawk braid.

OK, we may have found our new neutral lip color for summer. (Sorry nude lippie, you’re just gonna have to have a seat until fall comes back around.) This icy-toned, grey lip color is about as cool as they come, not to mention easy to style. Match this lip color with neutral, understated makeup so that your lips get most of the attention. When you’re wearing a lip shade this chic, you have to make sure it stands out. Here’s how we did it:
Step 1: Apply a matte nude to the entire lid as a base.
Step 2: Apply a taupe eye shadow to the lid and lower lash line, just to the crease.
Step 3: Add some highlighter to the inner corner of the eye and dab some concealer on the brow bone to better define it.
Step 4: Thinly line your upper lash line with a black eyeliner, and wing it slightly.
Step 5: Line your lips with a nude lip liner and fill in with your grey lipstick.
Step 6: Add a messy bun to your look for some added flair.
