It’s no secret that electric eye shadow is very much a thing this season. From neon smoky eyes to sunset shadow, everyone is jumping on the color train (including MDC!). We decided to step up our neon shadow game even more and take on a color that is not as prevalent in eye shadow tutorials: lime green. We asked makeup pro Diana Shin to show us how to work this neon color in a whole new way.

Step 1. Apply eye primer to the lid to ensure long-lasting color. Work black eye shadow (we love Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Leather in Dramatic Black) onto the entire lid, up to the crease.

Step 2. Apply the black shadow to the lower lash line and outer corner of the eyelid. Smudge with a black shadow brush.

Step 3. Line the upper lash line with a black eyeliner and smudge to intensify color on the lid.

Step 4. Using an angled liner brush, apply a neon green shadow (Shin used Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Solo #17) to the upper lash line, starting from the outer corner and working about 1/4 of the way in. Wing it out slightly and draw over the line to thicken it until you achieve the color intensity you want.

Step 5. Line the inner corner of the eye with a thick line of the lime green shadow, going about 1/4 of the way into the lower and upper lashline.
