With a Golden Globe, SAG Award and Oscar nomination already under her belt, actress Jennifer Lawrence’s career is on fire right now. And so is her ever-changing beauty style. At the EE British Academy Film Awards, the Silver Linings Playbook star opted for a bit of blue liner to accent a sophisticated smoky eye. The result? “Ladylike elegance with a modern, cool edge, thanks to that unexpected pop of periwinkle (the hottest color for spring),” says makeup artist Hillary Clark. She tells us how to get the stunning look at home. Step 1: When creating a dark smoky eye, always start with your eye makeup first and finish with your skin to avoid unnecessary cleanup. First rim your water lines with a water-resistant pearly white liner, like Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Empress, which is subtle and helps enhance the shine of your eyes. Next use a soft, smudgy black pencil, like Jane Cosmetics Eye Liner in Black, on your top and bottom lash lines, applying it close to fringe and then blending it. Step 2: Using a soft angled brush, sweep black shadow across your lids and blend it into the creases. Then layer pewter shadow on top, extending it slightly above the creases so that you can subtly see the color when looking in the mirror. Highlight under your brows with an ivory shade. Try: Lancôme Color Design Eye Brightening All-in-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Midnight Rush, which contains all three shades. Step 3: Brighten your eyes by lining the outer edges of your lower lash lines with a periwinkle pencil, like Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Periwinkle, and blend well for a soft effect. Step 4: Curl your lashes and apply two generous coats of black mascara to both top and bottom fringe. Try: Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Washable Mascara in Blackest Black. Step 5: For flawless, radiant skin, use a foundation brush to apply luminizing concealer, where needed, and foundation. Try: YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch and YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat. Then buff with a dry sponge for an airbrushed finish. Step 6: Lightly blend a soft rose blush onto your cheeks for a hint of color. Try: YSL Crème de Blush in Powdery Rose. Step 7: Groom your brows by applying brow pencil with short, firm strokes. Try: Chanel Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil. Step 8: Create natural-looking pink lips with just a hint of shine. Try: L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Pink Perseverance.
