We Can’t Stop Staring at Josephine Skriver’s Glittery Pride Makeup Look

Pride Month has officially come to an end, but in no way does that mean we’re done celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. In celebration of WorldPride and the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, millions of people took to the streets of New York City to participate in the city’s Pride March, including Maybelline spokesmodel Josephine Skriver. Maybelline makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez and hairstylist Brenton Kane Diallo worked to create a glittery look that was practically straight out of a fairytale. 

“I worked closely with Carolina and Brenton to create my look,” explains Skriver. “We opted for a pastel-hued rainbow. I wanted to bring a voice to support the trans community this year and drew inspiration for my hair and makeup look from their flag.” Ahead, Gonzalez shares how to recreate Skriver’s look at home for festivals, regular life or for your next Pride celebration.

STEP 1: Prep your under-eyes with Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Concealer and Maybelline New  York Fit Me Matte & Poreless all over your skin for a matte finish. 

STEP 2: Sweep the Maybelline New York FaceStudio Master Contour Kit onto the high points of your face and then layer Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Purple Daze, FaceStudio Master Blush Color and FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter on top to create a multidimensional base for the glitter.

STEP 3: Apply the Maybelline Soda Pop Eyeshadow Palette shade Grape Pop all over the lid and under eyes. Then, blend Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Purple Daze into the crease and used the similar hued shades from the Total Temptation Shadow & Highlight Palette to create an ombre effect in a fishtail shape up into the brow bone and temple. 

STEP 4: Apply Maybelline New York Snapscara in Ultra Violet onto top and bottom lashes.

STEP 5: Define your brows using the Maybelline New York Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil and Brow Ultra Slim Defining Eyebrow Pencil to fill in sparse areas.

STEP 6: Create an ombre lip with a combination of Maybelline New York SuperStay Matte Ink in Philosopher and Lover by first applying Philosopher all over the lips and then concentrating Lover along the inner lip line and middle of the lips. 

STEP 7: Complete the ethereal, unicorn-inspired look by applying glitter on your orbital bone and up to the temples, plus all over your body — because why not?
