the best lip stains Some stains are bad (red wine on white carpet, marinara sauce on your new dress) and some stains are good—namely the ones that tint our lips and fill our makeup bags. The season of fuss-free makeup is officially here, and to prepare we’ve been trying out every long-lasting stain we could get our hands on. It was a hard job, but we finally narrowed it down to our favorite four: Gel  gel lip stain The water-rich gel of Urban Decay Lip Envy Lip Stain feels refreshingly cool when applied, and it dries to a semi-matte finish. This little pot of product can be vampy or surprisingly subtle. Try a sheer wash during the day and layer the color to a deep, inky stain for evening. Cream creamy lip and cheek stain The ultra-blendable Becca Beach Tints deliver a sheer wash of color that looks great on lips and cheeks. The creamy stains dry to a natural finish, and the water-resistant formula is designed to out last a long day at the beach. Glossy ysl lip stain gloss Is it a gloss? Is it a stain? Actually it’s the best of both worlds. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis Á Lévres Glossy Stain combines the shine of a gloss with the long-wear of a stain. Use one coat for a natural shine–or bump up the drama, and apply two coats for full coverage and more intense color. Matte matte lip stain Matte lipstick has officially taken over our makeup bag but we’re willing to trade in a few for some more summer-appropriate matte lip stains. tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tints let us keep the matte look we love, and deliver the long-lasting wear and light feel of a stain.
