The New Year has a way of sneaking up on us. Maybe it’s because we tend to spend the better half of the season preparing for the holidays by shopping for presents and decorating our homes — before we know it, we need to to come up with an entire New Year’s Eve beauty look in a matter of hours. To help you channel your most glamourous self when you ring in 2024, we rounded up a few of our favorite New Year’s Eve makeup ideas. Plus, don’t forget to check out our trending 2024 makeup predictions in the video below.

Cool-Toned Smoky Eye

This sultry cool-toned eye is a no-fail option for NYE because it complements all features, skin tones and outfits. To achieve a dramatic tightlined effect, makeup artist Jonet Williamson used the Valentino Beauty Twin Liner Eyeliner.

Icy Makeup

For a more elevated take on cold girl makeup, don't be afraid to shy away from lots of sparkle and shine on the lids, with equally glossy lips. Here, creator @eileenamirian used the Lancôme Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Smokey Chic.

Glossy Smoky Eye + Extra Highlighter

Let a glossy eye and highlighted look light up the room on New Year’s Eve. Pair a smoky eyeshadow topped with an eye gloss with the brightest highlighter you own. To really add to that glowy radiance, try layering a powder highlighter on top of a cream formula. We love the NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Multi-Use Highlighter Stick paired with the Maybelline New York FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter.

Radiant Skin + A Red Lip

You can’t go wrong with a statement lip, especially on New Year’s Eve. Keep your skin looking glowy and your eye makeup minimal to let your red lip take center stage. The Giorgio Armani Beauty Lip Power Longwear Satin Lipstick in 400 is one of our go-to reds.

Purple Smoky Eyes

While it may be smoky eye season, it doesn’t mean you have to choose traditional black, brown and silver hues to complete your look. Try going with a vibrant, sparkly hue, like pinkish-purple, for an unexpected and fun twist. We love the Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Eyeshadow in Glitter Rock for this. Finish the look with a nude lip and a fluffy pair of falsies, like the Lilac St. Lashes in Midnight.

Nude Cut Crease

We love this look because you can keep it minimal by doing a nude cut crease or you can take it up a notch by adding rhinestones, like @gabrielalsr did here. Whatever you choose, we recommend pairing the eyes with a peach lip to keep things fresh. If you’re looking for a drugstore palette that can help you create the look, try the Maybelline New York Eyestudio Nudes of New York Palette.
