If anyone could make the edgy asymmetrical undercut appear more elegant than avant-garde, it’s the spectacularly beautiful model and actress Milla Jovovich. At the fall 2012 Chanel haute couture show, she was every bit the lady, even if the left side of her head is nearly shaved. Thankfully the rest of us mere mortals needn’t succumb to such extremes to get her sophisticated look. Hairstylist Nicholas Penna, Jr., owner of SalonCapri, tells us how to fake it.Step 1: Distribute a protective volumizer, such as Nexxus Thermal Volume Heat Protection Mousse, evenly through damp hair to build body and safeguard it from the curling iron heat. Blow-dry hair completely.
Step 2: Part hair on the far left side of the head.
Step 3: Starting from the back of the head, take two- to three-inch sections of hair and wrap them away from the face around a barrel curling iron. Curl sections in a haphazard manner and run your fingers through the curls to get a natural, wavy look.
Step 4: Once you have finished curling the hair, use a fine-tooth comb to pull back a large section of curls toward the back left side of the head. Then use bobby pins to secure the hair directly underneath the left ear.
Step 5: Keep all of the hair on the left side of the part unpinned and cascading slightly in front of your eye.
Step 6: To keep curls and flyaways in place, set the look with a long-lasting hair spray, such as Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer Finishing Spray.
Would you give Milla Jovovich's asymmetrical bob a try?
