We all have our tried-and-true makeup combos that serve us well and never fail to make us look and feel great as we go about our days. However, throwing a brightly colored wrench in the makeup operation never hurt anyone. In fact, it could make you feel like a whole new woman and give you a little extra pep in your step. We want to encourage this experimentation by proposing a bold new color combo: orange lips and blue-infused lids. We know this combo might make you wary, but trust us — we would never steer you wrong! See how makeup maven Elyse Reneau created a totally wearable look combining two shades on opposing sides of the color wheel.

orange lips

Step 1. Cover the eyelids with a matte white eye shadow.

Step 2. Apply a shimmery white shade (like the #2 shade in L’Oréal Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quad in Neon Skirt) to the inner corners of the eyes, eyelid and lower lash line.

Step 3. Wet a flat shadow brush and add silver shadow to the inner corners of the eyes. Reneau used Revolt from the Urban Decay Electric Palette

Step 4. Line the lids with a navy blue liner like Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama in Sapphire Strength.

Step 5. Instead of blush, opt for a peach luminizer on the cheeks. Lightly brush the forehead, nose and chin with bronzer.

Step 6. Apply a light layer of Maybelline Color Show Vivids in Electric Orange on the lips. Top them off with Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational in Mandarin Rapture.
