How to Tweeze Your Eyebrows Perfectly Every Time

Fact: Your brows are so powerful they’re capable of making or breaking your makeup look. And while this means they deserve a lot of love and attention, it doesn’t mean you need to get them professionally done every single time they’re in need of cleaning up. Even though it can be intimidating to tweeze your brows on your own, it’s not impossible or even too hard to master — especially when you have how-to instructions to guide you.

Just like there are tweezer rules that everyone should know and live by, there are also very important rules for tweezing your eyebrows to ensure that you don’t accidently end up without eyebrows at all or two mismatched shapes. Ahead, discover the four major rules for tweezing your eyebrows, according to beauty guru Stacy Cox.

Step 1: Locate your starting point.

Flip your tweezer upside down so the open end is pointing downward and place it vertically alongside the outer edge of the bottom of your knows. The point where the vertex lands marks the beginning of your brow, which should be about one-inch above the outer corner of your eye. Using an eye pencil, draw a vertical line to mark the start of each brow, then check that the space above the bridge of your nose is centered between them. Tweeze any stray hairs that fall in between.

Step 2: Mark your end points.

Lay the tweezer on an angle against your cheek so the open end is at the bottom of your nose and the closed end hits the outer corner of your eye. The spot where the tweezer intersects with your brow is where the hairs should end. Mark it with an eye pencil and then tweeze the hairs beyond this point.

Step 3: Figure out how thick you want your brows.

Starting just below the fullest part of your brow, use an eye pencil to draw a line along the bottom edge of your brow. The line should be above any stray hairs and it should follow the natural shape of your brow's top line, which may be angled, slightly curved or even straight. Tweeze the stray hairs below the line. Aim for any brow thickness that makes you happy.

Step 4: Shape and clean your brow arch.

The arch of your brow should peak above the outer rim of your iris and hit right at the brow bone. Mark the point with your eye pencil, then remove a row of hairs along the bottom, starting at the inner brow point to the peak of the arch. After hitting the peak, shape the tail of your brow using an eyebrow pencil.
