This Red Carpet Lipstick Trend Deserves an Award of Its Own

Awards season means it’s time to celebrate the achievements of our favorite celebrities, as well as gawk at their fabulous red carpet looks. We’re not going to lie — we definitely do a lot more gawking than we do actually watching the shows, but it’s pretty impossible when our favorite beauty gurus debut makeup looks that we’re fawning over like copper eyeshadow from Madeline Brewer, stunning barely-there makeup from Yara Shahidi and our favorite look of the evening, a bold lip look paired with minimal eye makeup from Saoirse Ronan.

Ronan’s look certainly stood out on the red carpet as fairly untraditional compared to classic red lipstick and smoky eye looks — and we’re here for it. Her vampy, black-red lipstick was the focal point, as she kept her eye makeup minimal with a very subtle, tan smoky eye. Without a doubt, this look is hard to pull off, but Ronan crushed it. As for the future, we can only hope that more celebrities dare to be different because we don’t see black-red lipstick losing its cool anytime soon.
