From one beauty junkie to another, let’s be honest: the whole idea behind spring-cleaning is to make room for the newest, hottest products on the shelves. As we officially welcome Spring this week, it is out with the old and in with the new! Although space was tight as I am a loyal consumer to my short list of favorites, I managed to squeeze in a few new additions. Here are the winners, with a few expert tips I learned along the way: Nail Polish As a huge fan of essie, I anxiously await the lineup every season. This season’s show-stopping shade, essie madison ave-hue is pink perfection. In fact, here at MDC, we are loving pink in general this season! Expert Tip: Celebrity Manicurist Nia Cooper told that her favorite polish colors for spring are coral pink, lavender and robin egg blue. She recommends a glittery accent nail (ring nail being her top choice) for each of these colors. Mascara If mascara is your “can’t live without” product, you are like me—and it is always fun to experiment. This season I am loving the new Maybelline New York Volum’Express Mascara The Rocket in Blackest Black. You had me at pink brush head. The formula is smooth for non-clumpy, clean-looking lashes. Expert Tip: When applying mascara, Celebrity Makeup Artist Tim Quinn says to apply the brush vertically to the lash line and zig zag the brush along the lashes for instant volume. Makeup Remover Brighten up your eyes after the long, dreary winter by making sure to remove any mascara or eye liner residue before going to bed each night. A quick and easy pick me up for your eyes! I recently tried the new Giorgio Armani Beauty Perfection Eye Makeup Remover. I use a Q-tip to apply the gentle, yet effective formula around my eyes and have been surprised how much black it picks up! Expert Tip: Freelance makeup artist Ashley Rebecca says to pour some of the makeup remover on a cotton pad and place on the eye for 10 seconds. This allows the eye makeup to slide off easily and with no mess with removing. Lip Gloss The glossy stain trend lives on. I can’t keep my hands off the new L'Oréal Paris Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain. From bright shades like Coral Tattoo and Endless Red to a lighter touch like Pink Perseverance, this lip color is easy to wear and makes a statement. Expert Tip: Freelance makeup artist Ashley Rebecca also told Start gradually applying lip stains until you get the color you desire. It's best to start small with color and build from there. Always exfoliate after using a lip stain, sometimes the rich pigment can dry out the lips. Hair Care Complete your spring beauty routine with paying some attention to your locks. If winter has been drying to your hair, show it some love. I recently tried the new Garnier Fructis Hydra Recharge 1-Minute Moisture-Plenish Treatment. One minute of application, soaking in that fresh Garnier fragrance made a difference. It was nice to mix up my hair routine with a quick fix instead of a more time-consuming hair masque.
