To celebrate the official first day of New York Fashion Week, the who’s who of the natural hair community came together to celebrate with a presentation unlike anything we’ve seen before. Texture on the Runway, powered by Sally Beauty, is an innovative runway show that showcases the latest trends and products for textured hair, placing hair at the forefront of the show. In short, the night was amazing –– filled with women of all shapes and sizes celebrating their hair with some of the biggest names in the industry.
There were presentations by Cantu, Carol’s Daughter, Creme of Nature, Curlformers, Mielle Organics and Shea Moisture, and each show brought a different look to the table. Carol’s Daughter featured dancers (who were killing the TLC), while Mielle Organics showed up with gilty glam looks. So what’s in for Spring? Dramatic protective styles (think knee-length braids) and complicated natural updos. The night was all about celebrating and embracing your natural texture and most importantly having fun with it along the way.
