Bring on the pumpkin spice, because here at Makeup.com we are in a major fall mood — and for good reason. With Thanksgiving around the corner, we’re taking stock of everything we have to be thankful for this year. And while family and friends are obviously at the top of our list, we can’t help but sing praises for the nails polishes and manicurists that have saved our nails from so many dreaded naked nail mishaps. In the spirit of the season we’ve scoured good ole Instagram for the best Turkey Day-themed manicures that are totally doable at home. Read on for six Thanksgiving-ish manicures that will get your hands looking even better than Grandma’s stuffing tastes (and that’s saying a lot, you guys).
Thanksgiving Manicure Idea #1: Copper Amazing-ness
Thanksgiving may be all about the positive, but we are mega-grateful for this negative-space mani. This copper creation is done by none other than @betina_goldstein. She creates a half-moon shape with Essie’s What’s Gold is New shade. The copper shimmer is perfect for the holiday and will look great as you shovel pumpkin pie into your mouth (because why not). But what gives this look a little extra oomph is the gold stud. With some nail glue, Goldstein places a gold accent in the middle of the half moon. Add some top coat and you’re good to go.
Thanksgiving Manicure Idea #2: Shapes on Shapes
We like to think of this look as your elementary school paper turkey all grown up and glam. Using Essie’s Easily Suede and Rust Worthy, @ritaemark created a fun and dynamic manicure. The best part about this look is that you can put your own spin on it. Play with shapes and positioning to create a unique style that will have everyone staring as they talk turkey.
Thanksgiving Manicure Idea #3: Gobble, Gobble
If your nail skills are stellar, then this is the look for you — hands down. Consider this our formal thank you to @nailsbycambria for gracing us with this jaw-dropping look. At first glance, the turkey accent nail may look a tad intimidating, but after watching the step-by-step tutorial our confidence in executing this Thanksgiving look has grown exponentially.
Thanksgiving Manicure Idea #4: Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice
We’re getting major sugar ‘n’ spice vibes with this manicure. It’s super easy, ridiculously cute and great for nail art beginners. Create a diagonal line down the middle of the nail and paint inside the slant. Or, if you’re like us, just clean up with nail polish remover after the fact.
Thanksgiving Manicure Idea #5: Pumpkin Spice Gradient
With the gradient trend in full force, this is the perfect balance of festive and chic. You’re going to want to mix and match shades ranging from nude to deeper orange. Be wary of hues that are too bright, though — it may have you looking a little too Halloween and a little less Thanksgiving. That aside, this look is extremely simple.
Thanksgiving Manicure Idea #6: Frosted Tips
While frosted tips were a highly questionable ’90s hair trend, these metallic frosted nails are a total ‘do’ in our book. Using a dark copper shade, like Essie Leggy Legend, coat every nail. Once dry, take a detail brush and line the edges (it doesn’t have to be precise or perfect) with a metallic gold polish. Add top coat for shine and you have an enviably stylish mani.
