Trends tend to come and go, but makeup artists agree that the must-have eyeshadow hue for fall isn’t just a seasonal fad—it’s here to stay. Plum? Olive? Maybe copper? You’d never guess, but the “it” shade is taupe. Where we spotted it first... Taupe may sound like a dull choice, but after dissecting the shade at the Fall 2011 runways of Blumarine, Monique Lhuillier and Marni, we saw just how much depth the universally flattering color actually has.  "The gray-ish brown can take on so many different nuances like silver, brown, purple and so on,” says Keri Blair, a Senior Makeup Artist for MAC Cosmetics. How to wear it... For a daytime look, blend a wash of light taupe shadow across your entire lid with a soft brush. For nighttime, try adding the shade into a smoky eye by blending it all around the lid with a soft brush and then pressing it into the lid  at the crease for more concentrated color. We like Lancome Color Design Palette in Taupe Craze, which has a selection of taupe shades that are great for blending. What is your favorite shadow color to wear during the fall?
