As the summer heat begins to fade away, it’s only natural to start daydreaming about fall. While for some that might mean thinking about apple picking and pumpkin carving, we’re busy scoping out the season’s makeup tips and trends. From dramatic, sultry eyes to rosy and flushed cheeks, we’re looking to Pinterest for the best how-tos and image inspiration. Keep reading for five makeup ideas we’re currently pinning to recreate this season.

Metallic Makeup

Chrome manicures aren’t the only high-shine trend you’ll be spotting this season. Metallics are also having their moment on the eyes. For maximum pigment, try applying one of the shimmering shades from the Urban Decay Naked Metal Mania Metallic Eyeshadow Palette to your lids using your finger, then lightly buffing out the edges with a fluffy blending brush.

Smoky Eyes

We know, we know: Smoky eyes for fall — not exactly groundbreaking, right? This year, however, we’re seeing sharper, sultrier takes on the look, also known as “unapproachable makeup.” The look is characterized by a slick, razor-sharp wing, pointed inner corners and jet-black liner rimming the entire eye. For liner that lasts, try layering a liquid eyeliner over a waterproof pencil — the Urban Decay 24/7 Inks Easy Ergonomic Liquid Eyeliner Pen and the 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil make a perfect match.

Cranberry Girl Makeup

Strawberry girl makeup was everywhere this summer — a subtle wing, scattering of freckles and the pièce de résistance, dewy, flushed cheeks. This fall, blush still reigns supreme, but instead of baby pink and sun-kissed red shades, we’re seeing deep rose, peach and cranberry hues. To replicate the look, try dusting the Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Blush in Mystery on the high points of your cheeks.

Soft Glam Latte Makeup

A soft brown smoky eye is a timeless choice for fall and winter. This year, update the look with matte and satin finishes rather than shimmery shadows. We recommend reaching for the Danessa Myricks Beauty Groundwork Palette, which includes a mix of neutral powders and creams that can be used on the eyes, lips and face.

Jelly Lips

Get jelly lips with a lush, pink, red or berry gloss, or a clear gloss layered on top of your favorite lip stain. The result is multidimensional and juicy — plus, if you go the lip stain route, the look  will stay put all day. Our go-to pairing is the Valentino Beauty Liquirosso 2-in-1 Lip & Blush Soft Matte Color in 22A: Rosso Valentino with a layer of the NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss in Sugar Glass on top.
