Get the Look: Viola Davis’ Dramatic and Classic Makeup Look From TV’s Biggest Night
As many of the world’s greatest actresses and actors hit the carpet last night for TV’s biggest award show, we couldn’t help but fall in love with Viola Davis’ entire look. The newest L’Oréal Paris spokeswoman gracefully strutted the carpet in a gorgeous asymmetrical white and black gown by Alberta Ferretti, a show-stopping red lip and a stunning smoky eye. Davis was there both as a nominee for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her role on the hit show How to Get Away With Murder and as a presenter. Of course, being the makeup lovers we are, we had to figure out exactly how to get the beauty look that took our breath away, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Autumn Moultrie. The artist said that Davis knew exactly what she wanted before she had even arrived. The 54-year-old star wanted to play up the drama with her makeup to complement her dress and hairstyle. Read on for a step-by-step tutorial on the full-face glam.  How to Get Viola Davis’ Red-Carpet Makeup Look STEP 1: Autumn prepped Davis’ skin with the L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra Nutrition Honey Day Cream to ensure the skin was hydrated (but not greasy) before applying makeup. STEP 2: Next, Moultrie used the L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup for the base and followed with the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Full Wear Concealer in Cocoa to lighten and highlight the highpoints of Davis’ face.  STEP 3: After foundation and concealer, Moultrie applied the L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Blush to the apples of Davis’ cheeks for a subtle flush of color.  STEP 4: For the eyes, Moultrie focused on a dark smoky eye per Davis’ request. To begin, she focused on the eyebrows using a combination of L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Definer in Soft Black and Dark Brunette.  STEP 5: Moultrie used her finger to apply L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Pocket Palette in French Biscuit and L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Pocket Palette in Boudoir Charme on the star’s eyelids using the darker shades on the outer parts of the lids and lighter shades in the inner corners of her eyes.  STEP 6: Next, Moultrie lined the eyes using the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Eyeliner in Black.  STEP 7: To complete the eye look, Moultrie applied multiple coats of cult-favorite L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara in Black. STEP 8: Lastly, Moultrie used the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Matte Lipstick in Doesn’t Matte-R with a coat of clear gloss on top.
