Get ready to channel your inner Marilyn or Audrey this year. The key to nailing the old Hollywood look is in your color strategy. Too much color can throw off the vintage vibe. Go for clean, matte foundation with a soft peach or dusty rose blush (depending on your skin tone). For the eyes, try thin, razor-sharp winged liner and lengthening mascara. In true retro fashion, fill in the brows and make them a bit bolder and fuller than usual. Top off the look with a ruby red or bright coral lip.

Glow, baby, glow! Dazzle the crowd (and your hunky prom date) with some edgy metallic makeup. Let your lids do most of the talking via a bronze, gold or silver smoky eye. Keep the skin clean and flawless with a silky foundation and deep pink blush. Add a little highlighter to the cheekbones to lend some lift and radiance. Depending on the metallic, try a fun, bold lip color to complement the glitzy eyes. For silver shadow, go with a deep berry shade; for bronze, go with a salmon hue; and for gold, try a bordeaux-like red.

You’re a gal who appreciates a softer, feminine look. Try going the angelic route for prom by going with white, frosty eye shadow and lush, voluminous lashes. Try to avoid a dramatic, thick brow look and instead keep them groomed and shaped — you don’t want them to draw attention away from your eyes. For skin, apply a dewy foundation and soft pink, cream blush to make your skin look supple and radiant. Keep the frosty train moving with a pretty pink lip with a light, iridescent finish.

You are a statement maker who never shies away from a dramatic makeup look. Nothing turns on the drama like a deep, sultry smoky eye. Go with a matte gray smoke or go the glitzy route with a dark emerald. Keep your skin matte and and try a little strategic contouring to enhance your cheekbones and jawline. Make sure to keep the blush light — too much color on the cheeks will make you look clown-like since there’s so much going on with the eyes. Go with a nude lipstick and finish with a clear or neutral-colored gloss.

You’re a simple girl who doesn’t like to get too crazy with the makeup. That doesn’t mean you can’t make a statement. A natural, barely-there makeup look can still let you really shine at prom. Start with a soft, dewy skin and bright rosy cheeks to promote a naturally vibrant complexion. Go with neutral shadows and tightlined lids (you still want those eyes to pop!). Grab a berry red or bright pink gloss or tinted lip balm to give your face a pop of subtle color and you’re good to go!
