Upgrade your routine from start to finish

Picture this: the sun is blazing, the sand is between your toes and your foundation is melting as fast as the ice cream in your hands. Gross. Don’t let this ruin your perfect summer selfie.

We caught up with Chelsea Bice, Dermablend Professional national makeup artist and head of education, to figure out how to make our faces stay picture perfect even on the hottest of days.

“Nothing breaks makeup down faster than heat,” Chelsea says, “whether [heat coming] naturally from the skin, the weather or from stage lights, I take several steps to make sure my makeup lasts all day. It’s all the steps before and after that keep the makeup lasting, not just the makeup itself.”

Here’s the foolproof routine Chelsea uses to stay picture perfect for her TV appearances and all day after.

Step 1: In the beginning there was a good base

Step 4: Take it all off
