How to Apply Liquid Eyeliner – and How to Fix a Mistake!

Liquid eyeliner is a fun trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. It can be a bit intimidating if it’s not a beauty look you often wear, but it doesn’t have to be! Whether you want to create abold liner look or prefer a more classic look, with a little practice, you can rock either look with ease!

Choosing Your Weapon

When it comes to deciding on a liquid eyeliner, something with a fine point is going to be the easiest to work with. Try theUrban Decay Perversion Waterproof Fine-Point Eye Pen

or theMaybelline Curvitude Liner.

The Urban Decay pen offers intense black pigmentation and glides on smoothly. You’ll be able to create precise lines that won’t fade, smudge, or feather throughout the day!

The Maybelline pen has an angled applicator that makes creating a defined line super easy! It hugs every curve of your lash line, making it a great choice for beginners!

How to Apply Liquid Eyeliner

Tilt your head back slightly so you’re looking down into your mirror.

You want to start your line wherever you feel most comfortable. The midpoint and inner corner are the most popular choices, but play around and see what’s comfortable for you.

Place the tip of your liquid liner as close to your lash line as possible.

Then, use small strokes to draw dashes along your lash line. Light strokes will give you a thinner line whereas applying more pressure will give you a thicker one.

Dab your liner to fill in any gaps. Ideally, you want your liner to start thin in your inner corner and gradually get thicker toward your outer corner.

You can choose to have your liner end at your outer corner or have it go past the outer corner a bit to create a wing.

How to Fix a Mistake

Mistakes are inevitable when it comes to applying liquid liner. Even the pros can sometimes make an error, but just because you’ve messed up doesn’t mean your look is ruined!

Simply dip a cotton swab in makeup remover (like theGarnier All-in-1 Cleansing Water) and gently drag it over any mistakes you’ve made. This will clean up the problem area easily. Then, once your eye is dry, you can go in with your liquid eyeliner and try again!
