Alice In Wonderland-Inspired Halloween Makeup — Here Are All the Products You Need

As far as peculiarity goes, there’s nothing quite like Lewis’ Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” story — from its land of croquet flamingos to its height altering potions and extremely tardy white rabbits. In addition to all of these wonders, something else “Alice in Wonderland” gives us is the opportunity to tell these stories through makeup — whether that’s an Alice-inspired everyday tutorial or a Cheshire cat Halloween look. To celebrate these characters during this peculiar time of year, we rounded up the best makeup products to achieve four of our favorite character looks. Without further ado, down the rabbit hole we go...

Alice

Alice-inspired makeup is something we’d love to embody all day every day, simply because it’s simple, flushed and youthful in every way. Inspired by her rosy cheeks, get the look with a wash of the Lancôme Monochromatique in the shade S’il Vous Plait all over your cheeks, temples and a little on your nose. To mimic her gorgeous blue eyes, line your lower lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Chaos. Finally, to complete the look, coat your lashes with another bright blue like the YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in I’m The Trouble.

Mad Hatter

Mad Hatter makeup is certainly the most fun, all thanks to the fact that literally *anything* goes. Our top pick to create this look is the NYX Professional Makeup Midnight Chaos Palette, which will give you a nice base of teals, reds, and purple choices for your eye makeup. Next, a highlighting formula like NYX Professional Makeup Away We Glow Liquid Booster in Snatched will elevate the look with just enough shiny craze. To finish off the look, add a major pop of color with Urban Decay Liquid Lipstick in Menace (we thought the name was pretty fitting, too).

Queen of Hearts

Any makeup that captures the Queen of Hearts is certainly worthy of a crown, which is why the more products the better for this look. Start by applying a thick cat eye with the IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner to define the eye, and add a coat of the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara for some extra boost. To get the perfect wash of red on your complexion, apply a dime-size amount of the Urban Decay Lo Fi Lip Mousse in Amplify on each cheek and blend. Finally, to complete the look, swipe on a card-army approved lippie like YSL Rouge Pur Couture Slim Matte Lipstick in Rouge Extravagant, and you’ll feel as fit as the Red Queen herself.

Cheshire Cat

Probably our favorite of the bunch, the not-so-directional direction giving Cheshire Cat is a crowd favorite makeup look. For this, you’ll need the NYX Professional Makeup Primal Colors Shadow in Hot Pink and the Vivid Brights Crème Color in Sugar Rush or Rebellious Edge to create the striping of your complexion and fur. Next, create a cat eye with Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner, and fill in your nose and mouth lines to resemble the cat’s face. With a touch of the L’Oréal Paris Pro Last Liner in Purple, add some more dimension to your lower lash line — and complete the look with a blinding smile all night long.
