Beauty Q&A: How Do I Use an Eyebrow Stencil to Fill In My Brows?

We’re serious about many aspects of our makeup routine, but one that we take extra seriously is our brow routine. At times, our collection of eyebrow essentials seems a tad bit excessive: pencils for definition, brow gel for a strong hold, pens that make us look like we just came from a microblading appointment and more. Clearly, there’s a lot of love to go around for all of the brow products, but what about eyebrow tools? A particular product that recently piqued our interest is the mysterious eyebrow stencil. What’s their deal and how can we add it into our already-exorbitant routine?

We reached out to beauty influencer Julia Salvia to give us insight into the world of brow stencils.

How do you recommend picking out an eyebrow stencil?
“I like to hold the stencil up to my brow and see which is closest to my ideal brow shape.”

When would you use an eyebrow stencil instead of filling in your brows?

“I personally like to use stencils when shaping my brows with a tweezer.”

Can you walk us through how to use a brow stencil correctly?

“It’s easiest to first map out the three points of your brow to begin: the front (should be in line with the inner corner of your eye), the arch (sometimes this one is hard to find, but touch your face to find where the highest part of your brow bone is) and the ends (in line with the outer corner of the eye). When you mark all of these spots, you can line put the stencil in the right place for your face. It’s important to remember the stencil is just a guide for your brow shape, not ‘coloring in the lines.’”

Do you have a favorite eyebrow stencil?
