Quick Tip: What is a Spoolie?

What is a spoolie? Chances are you’ve seen one, but you may not have known the technical term. And if you haven’t, allow us to introduce you to your new favorite beauty tool. The spoolie brush is an often-overlooked eyebrow shaping tool that looks like a mascara wand (minus the mascara) with a tapered head and soft bristles. And it really should be your eyebrows' best friend.

How To Use a Spoolie

Use it to brush your brows into place (think up and away from your nose, so all the hairs are laying the same direction) before you begin grooming or filling in. Use it after you’ve filled in your brows to soften any harsh markings. A quick brush through with a spoolie will even out the color, making the finished look like your natural brows and not like makeup at all. Who knew something so simple could be so essential?

Beauty Bonus: Adding a spoolie brush to your makeup bag will benefit more than just your brows. Spoolies can be used to separate eyelashes and remove mascara clumps too.

Product Picks

We’re big on the whole two-birds-one-stone concept, so we love a good pencil with a built-in spoolie. Try one of these double-ended duos: Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre, Maybelline Eye Studio Master Shape Brow Pencil, or The BrowGal Skinny Eyebrow Pencil.
