We have some sure fire ways to get nail polish out of your clothes. Now you can enjoy all the benefits of an at home manicure without worrying about ruining your favourite sweater!

The Best Ways to Get Nail Polish Out of Clothes

Nail polish is actually one of the easier things to remove from clothes, which is good news. Whether it’s a big stain or a small one, we will help you get the nail polish out of your clothes! Here are some of our favourite ways to remove nail polish from your clothes:

Use Acetone

Start by placing the stained garment face down on some paper towels so that the stain is touching the paper towel. Then, you want to blot the backside of the stain with a cotton ball saturated with acetone. This action transfers the stain to the paper towel. Then, take your garment to the skin to rinse out the stained area. Repeat these two steps once more to finish transferring the stain to the paper towels. Lastly you will want to launder the garment according to the washing instructions on its tag. When your item is finished it should look good as new!

The great thing about this step is that is super easy and effective. It works well on cotton, silk, denim, linen, and most other fabrics. This method can also be used whether the nail polish is still wet or if it is dry!

Use hydrogen peroxide

Dab the stained area with hydrogen peroxide and then blot it with a clean towel. Repeat this step until the stain is gone!

This step is super speedy, but since hydrogen peroxide can act as a bleaching agent, you’ll want to test it on a small patch first!

Use Hairspray or Bug Spray

Hairspray or bug spray can be another quick fix. Spray either one on the bristles of an old toothbrush and then scrub in a circular motion to lift the stain from the fabric.

Use Ice

Hold  an ice pack on the stain. The cold will make the nail polish harden so it becomes brittle. Then, try picking off the nail polish using tweezers. You could also try brushing the stain away with an old toothbrush.

No matter what method you decide to use, your nail polish stain doesn’t stand a chance! All of these methods can be done at home with things you likely already have around your house. No more of that sinking feeling you get when you spill nail polish because with these tips no one ever has to know!
