5 Unexpected Nail Art Looks to Rock Using the Essie Summer Polish Collection

5 Unexpected Nail Art Looks to Rock Using the Essie Summer Polish Collection

It’s no secret that Essie dropped a summer collection that set the tone for the entire season. The vibrant hues — inspired by the color palette of Argentina — include six demi-matte shades named Soles on Fire (a neon orange tangerine), Take the Lead (a neon sky blue), Strike a Rose (a bright pink), In Full Swing (a peach with a neon feel), Claim to Fame (a toned-down pink with a hint of coral) and Tangoed in Love (a glowing purple). Although all of these polishes can hold their own in a solid colored mani — they’re also perfect for combining and creating nail art looks.

We’ve rounded up our favorites ahead — from the minimalist mani you can totally DIY to the delicate floral look that’s dainty but daring.

Sunset Vibes

Celebrity nail stylist Karen Gutierrez makes ombré look easy (and by easy we mean seamless) in the look below, featuring an eye-catching combo of Essie Strike a Rose, Soles on Fire and In Full Swing.

Not Your Average Flower

Floral nails are often associated with soft pink shades, but they look great layered on top of neons, too. Nail enthusiast @hammerandnails_ used Tangoed in Love as the base for her freehand floral nails, and the results are absolutely stunning.

French, but Make It Minimal

Nail artist Betina Goldstein is known for her eye-catching, minimal looks — so it’s no surprise that her take on the collection feels fresh and inspired. Playing with the traditional French manicure, Goldstein pairs In Full Swing and Strike a Rose to create a gradient ombré mani along the very edge of her nails.

Feels Like Summer

We love a color-blocked nail moment — particularly when it combines two unexpected shades. Such is the case with the look below by Julia Murphree, who pairs Claim to Fame and Strike a Rose for a warm-toned, summery look.

To Dye For

Editorial nail artist Steph Stone knows a thing or two about creating unexpected nail looks — so it’s no surprise her interpretation of the collection is trendy and fun. Stone used every color in the Essie Summer 2019 Collection rainbow to create a tie-dye look we can’t wait to recreate.
